German subtitles without a crowded screen

An accurate word can still make a poor caption if it sits alone across a line break. Create a timed German draft, then shape it into text people can read comfortably.

01 / The workflow

Generate German captions from German speech

Upload your video, select German, and review the timed transcript in the editor. AIVideoCaption can export the checked text as styled captions in an MP4 or as an SRT file.

The automatic draft is a starting point. Listen for names, technical terms and quiet endings before publishing. If the video contains another spoken language, select that language instead; this is transcription, not translation.

02 / German-specific editing

Give long words enough room

German compound words can fill much of a phone-width caption. Read the full line in the preview rather than judging it in the text editor alone. If it feels cramped, reduce the surrounding words in that caption group or choose a quieter style; do not change the speaker’s wording just to make the line fit.

ILLUSTRATIVE LAYOUT CHECK

Check line breaks at the size your viewer will actually see.

Also check capitals on nouns and the spelling of ä, ö, ü and ß. A clear transcript needs legible typesetting as well as correct words.

03 / A practical use case

For a screen recording or how-to video

German tutorials often mix spoken instructions with labels already visible on screen. Put captions where they do not cover the button or setting being explained. Read numbers, menu names and product terms twice. A clean bar style is often easier to follow than animated words during a step-by-step explanation.

  • Show the actionKeep text away from the interface you are teaching.
  • Preserve termsMatch the name the viewer sees in the product.
  • Pause to readGive a complete instruction time to land.

04 / Export

Choose the file your publishing workflow needs

Export MP4 when the captions should always be visible in the clip. Export SRT when you need timed text for YouTube or an editor. The SRT file guide shows how the separate file fits into that workflow; pricing lists the current export limits.
